Knights Gourmet Popcorn started in Milwaukee on the porch of Ted & Llewellyn D. Knight. Time was, people would come to the porch, knock on the window and Ted would sell popcorn from the machine located in his living room. Over time, the reputation of Knight’s Popcorn grew to such an extent that Lou opened a store at 9th and Mitchell. As the demand for Knight’s Popcorn grew, the Mitchell Street location became too small and the business relocated to its present address in 1988.
Ted & Lou later retired and sold the business and his popcorn-making formulas. The demand in the mid 1980’s for a low-cholesterol or cholesterol-free snack became apparent. Over time our popcorn experts here at Knights experimented with many different oils. The recipe we have today is not only cholesterol-free, low in saturated fats, 0 transfat and low sodium, but it tastes great!!!
Today the staff at Knights Gourmet Popcorn has kept up the tradition of making popcorn with only the finest corn and oils! Midwestern transplants still call home to order the hard-to-find great tasting popcorn snack.
