A former Rodale Press editor, he has written five books andnumerous articles about Wisconsin horticulture. Minnich was the founder and president of Prairie Oak Press. He has been a Madison restaurant columnist and food critic since 1985. His hobbies include gardening, cooking, travel, architecture, and music. He has written several other books, including The Wisconsin Garden Guide, Eating Well in Wisconsin, The Wisconsin Almanac, North woods Cottage Cookbook, Gardening for Maximum Nutrition, and others.
