Born in Racine, Doris Green has lived nearly all her life in Wisconsin. Attracted by the rolling landscape of the Driftless Region, she and husband Michael Knight live with Rumpus, a black Lab, and Houdini, an occasionally black-hearted cat, in a log house with a distant view of the Wisconsin River. Doris Green is a communications specialist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and writes and edits a variety of other publications. But writing about Wisconsin, she says, is a matter of love not work. She holds a master's degree in journalism and mass communications from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
