Gile Cheese has a long history of providing award-winning cheese. In the early 1920s, a group of area farmers needed a place to process their milk into cheese. So they leased farm land owned by the Carr family and created a co-op. This co-op was the beginning of the Carr Cheese Factory. In 1946, the cheese factory was purchased by Cletus and Sally Gile.
