Author - photographer Mary Bergin won first place for books in the 2007 competition of the Society of American Travel Writers, Central States Chapter for her "Sidetracked in Wisconsin: A Guide for Thoughtful Travelers." Society of American Travel Writers has more than 1,300 members and is the continent¹s largest organization for professional travel writers, photographers, broadcasters, editors and media relations leaders. Twenty states are in the Central States Chapter.
Ms. Bergin has been a newspaper journalist since the 1970's and has had a weekly syndicated column, Roads Traveled, since 2002. A Wisconsin native, she enjoys writing about and photographing the Badger state.
