Mark Janness acquired an interest in photography in 1969 while serving a tour duty in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. After his discharge from the Army he managed a camera department in Oshkosh and also was the staff photographer for the student newspaper while attending college. He also did wedding and event photography in his early days of photography.
