Stay for Lunch: A Story of Faith and Friendship - Book

Stay for Lunch: A Story of Faith and Friendship by Anne Goodwin is the chronicle of an unexpected friendship between Anne, the author who was a young woman at the time, and Francina, an 86 year old refined community leader and a devoted Methodist. Beginning in Atlanta, the friendship of this unlikely pair was brought together by a destiny driven moment that changed both of their lives forever. Theirs was a connection of equal parts love and humor.

After Francina’s death, Goodwin wanted to write Stay for Lunch as homage to Francina, and as a comment on the presence of life’s unexpected gifts. Besides winning the coveted Gold IPPY in the highly competitive inspirational/spiritual category, response to the story has garnered many devotions. The book itself is exquisitely designed and reflects Goodwin’s desire to produce a book for many to enjoy for a long time. Published by Pleasurable Pause Press, LLC. Written by Anne Goodwin. 97 pages, 8.1 x 5 x 0.7 in, Hardcover with dust cover.

"Age is no barrier for friendship. "Stay for Lunch" is the reflections of Anne Goodwin and her friendship with a woman called Francina. With over five decades age difference, there seemed to be little in common. But Anne, the younger of the two, reflects profoundly on her time with her elderly friend and through her writing, imparts on some of the wisdom she gained. "Stay for Lunch" is a charming and moving read, a top and highly recommended pick." Midwest Book Review

“You'll want to stay for lunch, dinner, and even breakfast the next morning, reading Anne Goodwin's sweet, moving account of her friendship with Francina. It's a wonderful gift for a friend who may not know she changed your life and the perfect way of saying thank you.” Amy Cohen, The Late-Bloomer’s Revolution (Hyperion)

“Stay For Lunch is a delicious read which reveals the truth and universality of connection and generosity born of open hearts meeting unexpected circumstances. It highlights the lessons others offer to us, and how many of these gifts come out of surprising moments. Anne Goodwin was an open heart ready to give and in so doing, received much in return. This is inspirational reading.” L. Kay Wilson, Attorney, Coach & Motivational Speaker

“Stay For Lunch” is a nourishing treat for the soul…sweet, heartfelt and genuine. Plus, this exquisite little book is a true pleasure to hold in your hands.’ Myra Goodman, author, Food To Live By, The Earthbound Farm Organic Cookbook

As a marketing communications professional, Anne Goodwin directs her talents toward providing a voice for corporate, civic and professional entities. Goodwin is also a partner in a family owned remodeling/general contracting business she shares with her husband, and is busy launching two teenage sons.

Goodwin's desire to share her own voice to tell the remarkable story of a rich and unusual friendship took ten years of 'stolen moments' to become a book in hand. She is honored to share the story of Stay For Lunch as well as discuss the journey of listening to one's inner voice, following a longheld dream and making it reality.
