Neal Ewers of Madison, Wisconsin, began playing melodies and composing pieces at a very early age. In kindergarten he enjoyed playing simple compositions for his classmates. His natural skills as a musician have been augmented over the years through study, instruction, and a close association with University of Wisconsin Director of Choral Music Bob Fountain. Neal, who is totally blind, has accomplished many interesting things, but is most devoted to his music and the impact it can have on the listener. His goal is "to have the music I play sing of feelings deep within the listener, feelings which none of us can completely 'see' unless we close our eyes."
Through Ravenswood Productions, Neal has produced a CD entitled Peace on Earth: Quiet Carols for the Christmas Season. This collection of 22 Christmas carols arranged and orchestrated by Neal is available on www.WisconsinMade.com. Recorded using the state-of-the-art Kurzweil K2500XS keyboard, the arrangements of these traditional melodies reveal their simple beauty enhanced by the intricate blending of various instruments — truly music to your ears!
