Northern Wisconsin Maid SugarBush -- Maple Syrup

Northern Wisconsin Maid SugarBush offers Pure Wisconsin Maple Syrup direct from Mother Nature. Although aided by modern machinery and equipment, nothing has changed the flavor of Pure Grade A Maple Syrup from Northern Wisconsin Maid. Northern Wisconsin Maid SugarbushIn the Maple Syrup business for over thirty years, John and Rosemary Slack have expanded the business from a lone maple tree at their home to an operation utilizing 200 acres of solid maple trees. They produce approximately 2000-2500 gallons of maple syrup on about 12,000 taps or trees.

The sap taken from the maple tree is a watery substance with 2% sugar. It is boiled over wood heat until it becomes 66% sugar. Six to ten people are employed during the syrup season (the first week in March to Mid April) and 100 cords of wood are burned to make 2500 gallons of syrup from 100,000 gallons of sap.

A log cabin called the "Sugar Cabin" is filled with Maple product, honey and related items. The store is open 24 hours a day and it's help yourself. Everything is priced, please leave money on the counter. Oh...the peace and beauty of the northwoods. Two open houses are held each year; the first weekend in April and the Friday after Thanksgiving.
