Patti's Potions began with my desire for a natural, healthy, cleansing product, free of unnecessary chemicals and preservatives that may irritate the skin. I was not successful in my quest and started to research and develop my own.

Have you ever read the label on a bar of commercial soap and could neither pronounce nor recognize the list of ingredients? Many commercially-made soaps are really synthetic detergents with a petroleum base. In the commercial process, the natural moisturizing glycerin is removed and sold as a secondary product. Why? Cost and profit.

You will immediately notice a difference between my handcrafted soaps and their commercial counterparts. The difference is natural glycerin. All of my soaps are made using the alchemy of the cold process. This is not the commercial melt and pour "glycerin" soap, which is high in alcohol. The cold process starts with a balanced formula of natural oils, sodium hydroxide as the emulsifier, and a liquid such as goat milk, water, herbal teas, or aloe juice. The end result is soap, which chemically is a salt and glycerin.

My soaps are made from natural Grade A ingredients, including saponified oils of olive, palm, coconut, palm kernel, and castor. Some of my soaps may also contain sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil, avocado oil, emu oil, hemp oil, jojoba oil, cocoa butter, or shea butter. Dried herbs and grains may be added for their exfoliating and aesthetic qualities. I use only organic essential oils and fragrance oils designed specifically for soaps.
