Rice River Farms, LLC 
Rice River Farms is the retail line offered by Chieftain Wild Rice Company located in Spooner, WI. Chieftain Wild Rice Company has been in the wild rice business for over 40 years. The Rice River Farms® product line was developed in 1994 after numerous requests from chefs whose customers wanted to buy their stock of Chieftain products. We carefully chose the products to be selected for the Rice River Farms® line. We decided on six blends and our signature Dry Roasted Wild Rice. In 2004, we added a new blend, Midwest Medley to the line up.
Unlike many wild rice companies, we do grow our own wild rice in Atkin, Minnesota. We maintain 450 acres of paddies that are flooded each spring and drained and harvested in the fall. The Dry Roasted Wild Rice® is then brought to us in Spooner, WI, where we do all of the blending, packaging and shipping.
Our Wild Rice is Dry Roasted-it is not par-boiled. Our Dry Roasting Process is similar to how the Native Americans have processed wild rice for centuries. Dry Roasting is done to release the nutty flavor and wonderful nutty aroma of the wild rice. Par boiling actually cooks the grassiness of the wild rice into each kernel.
When you purchase Rice River Farms, you are buying from the grower and processor! Rice River Farms offers Dry Roasted Wild Rice® and seven gourmet wild rice blends with an individual seasoning packet enclosed. This “Just add water and cook” product is guaranteed for the highest quality and cooking consistency. Each package will feed a family of four generously. There are easy recipe ideas on the back of each package. All blends are in 10 ounce packages and the Dry Roasted Wild Rice is an 8.75 ounce package.
