| Timbergreen Forestry "Wood products is one business that a small operation can do as well or better than a big high-tech company." Bill and Jim Birkemeier have done just that. Starting over 25 years ago with the purchase of a 300 acre farm in Spring Green, Wisconsin, this father-and-son partnership has developed its own special niche in the timber industry. Graduating from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a degree in forestry, Jim has put his expertise to good use. Harvesting the low grade trees over the years, doing a lot of non-commercial timber stand improvements, and adopting "well-managed" forestry operations, has improved the forest at Timbergreen Farm. The Birkemeiers have shared their knowledge and success by teaching local forest owners what they need to know to make the right forestry decisions and produce high quality lumber from a small woodlot. As a member of the Forest Stewardship Council, which promotes responsible forest management and certification standards, Timbergreen Farm is proud of its efforts to protect forest ecosystems, water quality and wildlife habitats. Certification ensures for the consumer that the forest products they buy were grown and harvested in a way that protects forests for the long term. Timbergreen Forestry not only produces high quality kiln dry lumber and hardwood flooring which is distributed nationwide, but also offers a variety of hand-crafted wood pens, pencils, and desk accessories which are offered through Wisconsinmade. Each piece is a work of art using unique and figured hardwood certified by the FSC. Grown with love, harvested with care, processed with pride, entrusted to your keeping -- Timbergreen Forestry sets the standard for quality workmanship and a quality product. | |||||||||||||||||
