A Star to Follow, a book by Christopher Feiler, tells the ancient story of Melchior the Prince, who reluctantly pursues a war his father believes to be foretold by an omen. After losing almost everything in this war, Melchior resigns himself to a life of duty and sorrow. After many years, a sign from the heavens once again beckons Melchior. This time, Melchior journeys with his comrade Caspar and enemy-turned-friend Balthazar, following a star. The three risk all, not knowing where the star will lead them. What Melchior and his friends find in the simple town of Bethlehem is redemption beyond their deepest hopes.
