Fish Creek, Wisconsin. In 1896, German-born Dr. Herman Welcker from Milwaukee fell in love with Fish Creek, Wisconsin while on vacation. He purchased land and built what is now the White Gull Inn. Welcker's guests were treated to a regimen of vigorous exercise, rest and three hearty meals a day. Generations of cooks, innkeepers and guests have come and gone since Welcker's days, but fine dining has remained a tradition.
Under current innkeepers Andy and Jan Coulson, the White Gull Inn built an award-winning reputation. Alongside customer compliments and national recognition came requests for recipes, so the inn published its first cookbook in 1990: Favorite Recipes from our Kitchen, The White Gull Inn. But the talented chefs at the White Gull Inn never stop creating, hence the creation of The White Gull Inn: More Favorite Recipes From Our Kitchen. The recipes showcase local ingredients that inspire the magic of Door County and the 100 year-old tradition of The White Gull Inn.
