Madison, Wis. | State Street Brats, founded in 1989, has been selling their acclaimed Red Brats and White Brats since they opened on State Street in Madison. Red Brats, made from a combination of pork and beef, originated at the Brathaus in the 1950s. State Street Brats' owners and founders worked at the Brathaus in the 70s and purchased the recipe shortly after. That recipe remains unchanged decades later. A visit to State Street is not complete without a visit to State Street Brats for their renowned Red Brats and battered cheese curds!
