When nine-year-old Aubrey wins the lead in a history play, she and friend Tilisha search the attic of an old hotel for a costume. The hotel had been a stop on the Underground Railroad that helped escaped slaves travel to freedom in Canada. The story leads the girls on an adventure to discover hidden secrets about the hotel.

Harold Thorpe grew up in Southwest Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville where he earned his degree in education. He went on to earn his Master's in education from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and his doctorate degree in education from Utah State University. He taught several years at both the high school and college level and upon retirement decided he wanted to learn how to write fiction. Giddyap Tin Lizzie is his first book.
