Let It Demonstrate is a historical book by Randall Garczynski about John Fox Potter (1817-1899) and the early days of the Republican Party. Educated in the East, Potter established his Lake Side Farm homestead in Wisconsin. He was the first Republican to serve Wisconsin in the 1st Congressional District, a longtime Democrat stronghold. He was a man of action, and a man of introspection. After his political and legal career, he retired to his Lake Side Farm and hosted a group of social and political thinkers and activists from Milwaukee, The Phantom Club.
