I found your company through a Google search for a recipe for Almond Custard Coffee Cake. Like one of your previous customers, I too, grew up in Detroit and remember this coffee cake from a bakery I think was called Iverson's. Last week I received the coffee cake and my son, as instructed, put it in the freezer since I'm saving it as a surprise for my family at Thanksgiving. I grew up outside of Detroit, and my mother used to serve a similar custard cake at every family holiday. We too have searched for it for years, especially at her wake when we searched every bakery in Detroit for the same treat. Thanks to Margaret's review, we tried your Seven Sister cake and completely agree - it is very close to what we remember, and it warms both our taste buds and our hearts. One of my daughters found your website on Google and thought the coffeecake sounded like one I have been talking about for years, When I was a little girl, my father used to travel between Grand Rapids and Detroit where we lived and when he came home on weekends he would stop at a Danish Bakery somewhere along the way and bring home the most wonderful coffeecake. (I'm 81 years old and I can still taste that treat) I have been looking for and dreaming of finding that coffeecake for years and yours was the closest I've ever had - absolutely delicious!!!
