Grayson is a young boy whose friend, Alex, needs an operation, but his family doesn't have the money to pay for it. The local Lion's Club is raising money for Alex, but it's taking a long time and Grayson is impatient. He is also impatient for his father to finish building their new garage so he can play in it. Things happen that affect progress on the garage and suddenly Grayson comes into some money and he must decide what to do with it.

Harold Thorpe grew up in Southwest Wisconsin. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville where he earned his degree in education. He went on to earn his Master's in education from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and his doctorate degree in education from Utah State University. He taught several years at both the high school and college level and upon retirement decided he wanted to learn how to write fiction. Giddyap Tin Lizzie is his first book.
