Ridgeway, Wisconsin. Meadowlark Organics is a certified organic farm focused on growing high-quality grains and beans using regenerative practices. Originally founded by Paul Bickford, a pioneer in rotational grazing and organic farming in southwest Wisconsin, the farm transitioned from dairy to organic row crops in the early 2000s. Paul played a key role in shaping the regional grain economy, building a legacy rooted in ethics, sustainability, and soil health.

 

John and Halee joined the farm after returning to Wisconsin from New York City, where they met while working in the restaurant industry. Searching for organic farming opportunities, they responded to Paul’s ad looking for a like-minded individual or couple to help run his 950-acre organic operation. Paul mentored them closely, emphasizing trust and long-term stewardship. Over time, John and Halee assumed ownership of the farm and business. Following Paul’s passing in 2023, they continue his vision, raising heirloom beans, heritage corn, and organic grains while expanding access to Wisconsin-grown staples across the Midwest.
