Organic Cranberry Beans – Grown in Wisconsin
*Produced in a facility that processes wheat.
Cranberry beans—also known as Borlotti or Roman beans—are a beloved heirloom variety prized for their creamy texture and rich, nutty flavor. Ideal for soups, stews, and chili, these plump pink beans cook up beautifully and retain a faint marbled pattern when prepared.
These Wisconsin-grown cranberry beans were cultivated by Meadowlark Organics in Ridgeway, WI, using sustainable practices. Inspired by the Indigenous tradition of planting the “Three Sisters,” we interplanted the beans with grain sorghum to provide a natural support system. Although classified as a bush bean, cranberry beans benefit from this vertical support—especially during harvest, when the mature plants stay upright thanks to the sturdy sorghum stalks.
Part of a diverse crop rotation and certified organic by NICS, these beans are grown with a commitment to soil health, biodiversity, and local food systems.
Supporting Indigenous Foodways
A portion of proceeds from every sale of our organic beans and corn goes to Ohe·láku, a nonprofit led by Oneida families working to revitalize the tradition of growing and harvesting white corn.
Please Inspect Before Cooking
Our 2024 harvest was one of our best yet in terms of bean quality. However, due to factors outside our control, some “foreign material” such as small stones or soil particles may be present. We recommend sorting the beans before cooking. We’re actively working to improve our post-harvest cleaning process and appreciate your understanding and support.
