Plain, Wisconsin. Straka Meats was founded in 1948 by Pete Goodman, who passed on the business to his niece Eileen Straka and her husband James. At first, the plant was initially used for chicken processing and the buying and selling of eggs. James changed the plant to beef and pork processing in the 1960s. At this time, he added the large variety of hickory smoked sausages to the retail store. The business expanded in 1976 to keep up with customer demand.
Now owned by the third generation of Strakas, the Straka family continues to manage a growing butcher and retail shop.
